I'm Helen, a French expatriate living in Charleston, SC with my Irish-American husband.
At 24 years old, I became the executive pastry chef of a French restaurant where I stayed for 6 years.
I started writing Tartelette (my nickname in my family) at the same time I was leaving the restaurant, unsure of what to do next, knowing it would be with food, writing about it, photgraphing it and people around it.
When asked “so, what do you do?”, I have to think real hard about my answer which generally starts with “well, that depends which day you ask…”.
I work as a food photographer, food stylist, recipe developer, food writer (no product or descriptive writing), and I occasionally team up with my husband to do portrait and wedding photography.
My Food styling photography portfolio can be viewed here: www.helenedujardin.com
Clients include: Charleston Magazine, Garden & Gun Magazine, House Call Magazine, Syrup Magazine,...
When my schedule allows it, I give baking and cooking classes in the privacy of clients' homes where we can have a real 101 demo and spend quality time understanding pastry.
Thank you Dessert Professional Magazine, Joshi Magazine (Japan), The UK Times Online, Saveur, BlogHer, Design*Sponge, Decor 8, The Oregonian, Skirt! Magazine, ... for the features.
